Dear Sir

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you and through you, to donors for the generous donation for the people of the Tohoky district who suffered a great loss due to the tragic earthquake and tsunami of 11th March 2011

I am indeed moved by your message of encouragement shown through donations and other means. All donations made to our office have been duly transferred to the Red Cross in Japan, which is now being utilized for the needs of the affected people.

As the people in the affected area start to rebuild their lives, I am sure that they are encouraged by the kindness and generosity of many friends in Penang or Malaysia. In this context, I would like to reiterate my deep appreciation by quoating the relevant part of the address by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda a the sixty-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly delivered on 23rd Sept 2011, which reads as follows: -

“This has been a year of extraordinary challenges for Japan. A little more than siz month have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake struck Japan. Nearly 20,000 people were killed or remain missing, and nearly 40,000 who are forced to evacuate even now continue to endure inconvenience in their daily lives. At the same time, I have been deeply moved by the strong feeling of compassion shown by the people of the world towards Japan

“The world expressed friendship and solidarity as well as praise for the Japanese people immediately after the earthquake. On behalf of the people of Japan, I express my heartfelt gratitude for the helping hands extended from all over the world. These bonds between Japan and the international community will be forever remembered by the Japanese
